Governor Hixon reported he attended the Tulsa County Bar Association Board of Directors meeting. He also spoke with a District 6 constituent regarding bar admission issues. Governor Loyall reported she attended the Canadian County Bar Association May meeting. Governor West reported he attended the funeral service for attorney and bar leader Dave Stockwell. REPORT OF THE YOUNG LAWYERS DIVISION Governor Gage reported she attended the OBA YLD May meeting as well as the reception for new admittees at the Dust Bowl in Tulsa in May. She also reports discussions with the Animal Law Section regarding partnering on future events and meetings. REPORT OF THE GENERAL COUNSEL General Counsel Hendryx reported on the status of pending litigation involving the OBA. A written report of PRC actions and OBA disciplinary matters for the month was submitted to the board for its review. BOARD LIAISON REPORTS Governor Cooper reported the Bar Center Facilities Committee is working on site observation to support the upcoming renovation projects. Governor Barker reported the Awards Committee will be meeting in August to review OBA Award nominations as the deadline for submitting entries is approaching. Governor Dodoo reported by email the Bench and Bar Committee is hosting a lounge during the Midyear Conference where attendees are encouraged to stop by during programming breaks to learn more about joining the Bench and Bar Committee. She also discussed the committee’s “ICYMI” traveling CLE series in partnership with the Oklahoma Access to Justice Foundation, providing education to local area lawyers about the new eviction forms, plain language as a tool for communicating with pro se litigants, and best practices for distributing legal information to court staff. She said the next CLE will take place in Enid on June 24. COMMITTEE CONSOLIDATION UPDATE President Amber Peckio and President-Elect Jana Knott presented an update from the working group formed to evaluate underperforming committees to see if they should be consolidated or sunsetted. The working group has been formed with Governor Loyall as chair. The Executive Committee is discussing the development of a new set of aims and objectives for the Law Schools Committee. CLE ANNUAL REPORT Director of Educational Programs Gigi McCormick reported that currently about 89% of programs sold are presented either online or in a live webcast format. Gross sales of approximately $749,000 are projected for 2026, and a written report was submitted presenting an overview of financial comparisons with previous years as well as future goals for the OBA CLE Department. CLE TASK FORCE UPDATE The board passed a motion to approve the following recommendations proposed by the task force with a start date of Sept. 15, 2026: 1) Pivoting from the current model of administrative services and co-sponsorship to the implementation of a bundle model that is based on the cost of attending the program; and 2) raising the average hourly cost for CLE programs from $50 per hour to $60 per hour. IT STRATEGIC PLAN REPORT IT Director Robbin Watson described the progress that has been made in providing more efficient and effective technology for both staff and members to power the association, and she reported on the project status of the soon-to-be-live new and improved OBA public website that will be more user-friendly and searchable for the public. She also provided an overview and status update related to other recent and soon-to-be implemented technology upgrades and investments. She additionally described recent measures taken to strengthen the association’s technology security posture to better protect its systems and data. GARNISHMENT FORMS The board passed a motion to approve publication of the forms developed by the Access to Justice Committee Forms Subcommittee, as presented by Access to Justice Foundation Executive Director Katie Dilks, who described the process of developing the proposed new forms and the efforts made to engage stakeholders as they were being developed. PRESIDENT PECKIO’S APPOINTMENTS The board passed a motion to approve the following appointments: Professional Responsibility Tribunal (PRT): President Peckio reappoints Anne Sickles Maguire, Tulsa, and Martha Rupp Carter, Tulsa, as members with terms
