THE OKLAHOMA BAR JOURNAL 68 | AUGUST 2026 Law Day luncheon, attended the Pittsburg County Law Day event, attended the Oklahoma County Law Day luncheon, attended the Western States Bar Conference monthly meeting of executive directors, attended the kickoff meeting for bar center entryway and roof renovation projects, met with strategic planning consultant Marcy Cottle and President Peckio to get a status update on the Lifecycle Education analysis, and she met with Lawyers Helping Lawyers Foundation Interim Executive Director Sarah Jane Gillet regarding status updates. REPORT OF THE IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT Past President Williams reported he attended the April and May virtual meetings of the Membership Engagement Committee, coordinated the review and updating of a public information brochure for the Membership Engagement Committee, attended the April virtual meeting with the Law Schools Committee officers to discuss the committee’s aims and objectives, attended the May virtual meeting of the OBA Executive Committee to discuss updated garnishment forms to be published by the OBA, reviewed and approved an invoice for outside counsel work on pending 10th Circuit appeal matters, and he participated in Legal Desert Task Force discussions with rural attorneys regarding mentoring possibilities. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS Governor Aspan reported by email she participated in the Professional Responsibility Commission April meeting, and she participated in the ABA Standing Committee on Disaster Response and Preparedness meeting. Governor Barker reported he attended the Oklahoma Municipal Judges Association Spring Conference. Governor Cooper reported he attended the Oklahoma County Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings, and he attended the kickoff meeting of the bar facilities project. Governor Dodoo reported she attended the OBA Bench and Bar Committee meeting. Governor Hixon reported he attended the Tulsa County Bar Association Board of Directors meeting, exchanged communications with Katie Dilks regarding potential resources for development of legal forms, attended the Tulsa County Bar Association/ Tulsa County Bar Foundation Law Day luncheon, and he exchanged communications and met (virtually) with John Williamson of Smith Carney regarding commencement of the OBA audit. Governor Locke reported he attended the Membership Engagement Committee May meeting. Governor Loyall reported she attended the Oklahoma Municipal Judges Association Spring Conference and the Canadian County Law Day luncheon. Governor Norman reported he attended the Seminole County Bar Association Law Day CLE and golf tournament. Governor Oldfield reported he attended and judged a Law Day speech contest at Ponca City High School and volunteered to answer calls during the Kay County Ask A Lawyer event. Governor Trevillion reported he attended the Membership Engagement Committee meeting. Governor West reported he attended the Cleveland County Bar Association Executive Board meeting. REPORT OF THE YOUNG LAWYERS DIVISION Governor Gage reported the YLD recently participated in the ABA YLD spring conference in San Diego. The OBA YLD is working to fill six leadership vacancies. She reports planning is underway for the next Wills for Heroes event, and the division is preparing for its semi-annual Bar Exam Survival Kit assembly event. She also said the division is planning YLD activities during the upcoming Midyear Conference. Governor Gage recently met with Executive Director Johnson to discuss award nominations and filling open board positions. REPORT OF THE GENERAL COUNSEL A written report of PRC actions and OBA disciplinary matters for the month was submitted to the board for its review. BOARD LIAISON REPORTS Vice President Bracken reported the Military Assistance Committee is meeting regularly and preparing for the planned Heroes Day event in November. A Wills for Heroes event in McAlester is being planned for July in conjunction with the YLD. Past President Williams reported the Professionalism Committee is seeking a chairperson. Governor Oldfield reported the Disaster Response and Relief Committee has been meeting regularly. Governor Cooper said the Bar Center Facilities Committee is determining workflow for multiple planned repair and renovation projects with roof repairs to be prioritized. Governor Barker said the Awards Committee is accepting nominations for 2026 OBA Awards as the call-for-entries period is officially underway, and a marketing plan to publicize the request
