This course is an introduction to the Uniform Parentage Act (UPA) and will include various ways to establish parentage (execution of Acknowledgments of Paternity, presumptions created by statute, and adjudication) along with information on challenging acknowledgements and presumptions. Attention will be given as to when genetic testing is allowed and appropriate under the UPA. Practical tips will be included regarding questions to pose during an initial client interview to discover UPA issues and how to address those issues when they arise.
