CITY— Sept. 4) For attorneys, strong communication
skills are the key to mastering their craft. Fine tuning these techniques
will be the primary topic at the upcoming Oklahoma Bar Association
Women in Law Conference. This two-part event will be held at the
Skirvin Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City Sept. 27.
Though the seminars are aimed at attorneys, the topics to be covered
are designed to be helpful to working women in all career fields,
so the public is invited to register and attend. The daytime seminar
begins at 9 a.m. with continuing legal education programming throughout
the day. An evening program with dinner and CLE begins at 5:30 p.m.
Attendees may sign up for either one or both programs.
Attorneys may register online for the daytime program here or
for the evening program here.
Non-lawyers may register by calling the bar association at (405)

During the daytime meeting, renowned communication coach and expert
on women’s issues, Dr. Joan Goldsmith, will provide tune-up
tools for defining success by creating a five-year plan. She will
explain the tools for building a framework for success. Later in
the program, Ann Hoover of the International Association of Protocol
Consultants will share the latest etiquette tips for looking good,
feeling good and doing good in and out of the boardroom. There will
also be other presentations and discussions by other women leaders
during the day.
The evening program, “The Women Lawyers Club,” will
feature a lively theatrical montage that celebrates not only women
lawyers, but also the contributions that many other women have made
in the law and legal practice throughout American history. A discussion
of issues raised by the play will follow.
