MCLE “Mini-FAQs”
- What is the minimum educational requirement?
- Unless exempt, every active member aged 64 and younger must complete a minimum of 12 hours of Oklahoma MCLE approved continuing legal education credits each calendar year. At least one of the 12 credits must also be approved for legal ethics.
- It is difficult to get away from the office for live CLE seminars. What options are available to me?
- OBA/MCLE approved live webcasts have no limit and may be used to complete your entire MCLE educational requirement.
- OBA/MCLE approved online on demand (archived) seminars may be used to complete half (6 CLE credits, including 1 legal ethics credit) of your annual MCLE educational requirement.
- Who is exempt from the minimum educational requirement?
- Read Rule 2 for a list of exemptions.
- Will I be required to file a report at the end of the year?
- The MCLE Rules no longer require that a Final Annual Report of Compliance be filed by members whose OBA/MCLE record reflects that he or she has the required hours. However, this report must be filed by members who do not have sufficient credit according to OBA/MCLE records or by members who need to report an exemption. No Report is required from members who were admitted in 2010, members who have reached the age of 65 or members who reported one of the other exemptions in 2009.
- How do I add credit to my OBA/MCLE record?
- Please contact the MCLE department by phone (405) 416-7009, fax
(405) 416-7089 or email mcle(at)okbar.org if
you need to add credit to your reports. The seminar
you want to add must be approved by the OBA/MCLE
department and you must be able to provide something
in writing from the sponsor that verifies your
attendance.
