Schools representing
four Congressional Districts met to participate
in the We the People: Citizen and
the Constitution State Finals held in Oklahoma City January 23,
2010.? The competing schools included Enid High
School, Norman High School, Rock Creek High School – Bokchito,
and Southeast High School – Oklahoma City.
The WTP competition allows students to exhibit their knowledge of
the foundations and philosophies of the US Constitution through participation
in a simulated congressional hearing.? The competition is a cumulating
activity for the WTP: Citizen and the Constitution curriculum developed
by the Center for Civic Education.? A panel of judges interview students
assigned to a specific textbook unit and evaluate each group?s performance.?
The 2010 winners are:
- State Champions: Enid High School
- 2nd Place: Rock Creek High School – Bokchito
- 3rd Place: Norman High School
Unit Award Winners:
- Unit 1: Southeast High School – Oklahoma City
- Unit 2: Enid High School
- Unit 3: Rock Creek High School – Bokchito
- Unit 4: Rock Creek High School – Bokchito
- Unit 5: Enid High School
- Unit 6: Norman High School
