By OBA President Harry A. Woods Jr.
I rise to propose a toast to the Oklahoma Bar Association. I note that:
- It is 100 years old today
- It has grown from 138 members in 1904 to more than 15,000 members today
- It has a proud history of exceptional service to its members and the public
- Its members have fulfilled one of the most important roles in our state -- making the rule of law a reality all across the state
- In addition, its members have been leaders in government, business, academia, our cities and towns, churches and charitable organizations
- Its committees, sections, the Young Lawyers Division, the Board of Governors, officers, and the House of Delegates have provided outstanding leadership
- Its executive directors, departmental directors, and other employees, have worked tirelessly and effectively to support the mission and programs of the Association
- It enjoys an excellent relationship with the Oklahoma Supreme Court, which has general supervisory power over it
- It is the best state bar association in the nation
So, I propose a toast to the Oklahoma Bar Association, its achievements of the past and its exceptional potential for the future. |
