Elections – Democracy in Action

An election is what gives me a voice.
They give me options and I get a choice.
My opinion matters if I put it to use.
We’ll take a vote and call it a truce.
The right to vote is a precious right,
So stand up for a cause and get in the fight.
When an election is near and a choice must be made,
Do your homework first or be left in the shade.
An election can be held for many different causes,
So read the fine print and check all the clauses.
I want to know the facts before you check that box,
So join in discussion and get in the talks.
Our government will listen if we tell them what we think.
When the votes are all counted, the rules are set in ink.
That is why it’s so important that we understand
All the information and the issues at hand.
Democracy only works if we all do our part.
Remembering to vote is a good place to start.
So don’t be lazy, get some satisfaction,
And that my friends, is DEMOCRACY IN ACTION!
