Part-Time Position Available for HEROES Coordinator
The Oklahoma Bar Association is seeking a Coordinator for its Oklahoma Lawyers for America’s Heroes program. The program assists eligible retired and active duty members of the military with free legal services. The coordinator position is part-time requiring approximately 20 hours a week. The position also provides minimal support to Oklahoma Free Legal Answers. The Coordinator offices at the Oklahoma Bar Center however, flexible hours are available and some duties may be performed offsite.
General duties include:
Responding to telephone and email requests for services.
Determining eligibility for services.
Recruiting and matching volunteer lawyers for pro bono services.
Monitoring case assignments, preparing reports on progression of cases and maintaining a record of number of hours of pro bono services provided.
Attends Oklahoma Bar Association Military Law Committee and Section meetings.
Represents the program at various functions, conferences and events.
Applicants should have training and work experience sufficient to understand the nature of legal needs that may be requested. An attorney licensed by the Oklahoma Supreme Court is preferred. The position requires knowledge of Word, Excel and general use of computers. Some fully reimbursed travel is required. Good people skills and a desire to assist members of the military is essential. Military experience or prior experience working on legal issues related to military service will be given preference.
