Exam Survival Kits Distributed

With the bar exam quickly approaching, the YLD Board of Directors assembled bar exam survival kits at its July meeting. Gabe Bass, Emmy Hufnagel, Jennifer Kirkpatrick and Rick Rose passed out roughly 224 kits on July 29 in Oklahoma City, and Christopher Camp and Roy Tucker passed out the survival kits on July 30 in Tulsa. Though few were actually excited to take the bar exam, many were grateful for the essentials provided by the YLD.

Swearing-In Ceremony Scheduled

The admission ceremony for new admittees will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. in the House of Representatives at the State Capitol. A reception following the ceremony will be on the second floor Rotunda and the signing of the roll will be in the Supreme Court hallway on the second floor.

Want to Get Involved in the YLD?

We’re looking for motivated individuals who would like to serve on or lead several YLD committees next year. The YLD board is currently reviving old and creating new committees for next year. We are looking for innovative ideas and suggestions for new projects. Our best project ideas always come from individuals who are passionate about a particular cause. YLD liaisons to OBA committees are also needed to help make our projects even more successful.

This year, we are especially interested in establishing more community-minded projects as well as getting our name out into the community more.

You can specify a particular committee that you are interested in or just let us know that you would be interested in helping in some way.

BOARD MEMBERS VISIT NEW YORK

A YLD delegation attended the American Bar Association Annual Meeting in New York City last month. Kimberly Warren, Molly Bircher, Roy Tucker and Robert Faulk represented Oklahoma young lawyers in the ABA/YLD Assembly. Doris Gruntmeir also attended as the District 24 (Oklahoma and Arkansas) Representative to the ABA/YLD. Assembly business included presentations by ABA sections, elections of new officers, the presentation of year-end awards and debating several resolutions. In addition to attending assembly meetings, the representatives were also able to sightsee and meet with other young lawyers from across the country.
