New Committee Chairpersons Appointed

The Young Lawyers Division named its new committee chairpersons for the 2006 bar year. All chairpersons are planning to attend a YLD leadership retreat on Jan. 14 where they will discuss the plans and direction for their committees for next year.  After the retreat, they will begin actively recruiting members to assist with their projects. If you are a member of the YLD and are interested in becoming involved with any of these committees, please contact Keri Williams, 2006 chair, at kwilliams@osuf.org or (405) 385-5148 for more information. The new chairpersons are:

2006 YLD Officers Announced

Keri G. Williams
Chairperson

Keri is a director of planned giving for the OSU Foundation in Stillwater. Prior to taking her position with the foundation, she was in private practice in Tulsa. Keri graduated with a bachelor of science degree with honors in marketing/international business from OSU in 1997 and graduated summa cum laude from OCU School of Law in May 2000. She has been active on the OBA/YLD Board of Directors since 2000 and was named outstanding director for 2001 and 2002. She previously served as co-chair of the OBA/YLD New Attorney Committee for four years and served as the Tulsa coordinator for the OBA/YLD Mock Trial Committee. Keri has recently served on the OBA Strategic Planning Committee, Awards Committee, Budget Committee and Legal Ethics Committee. She is currently serving as chair-elect of the OBA/YLD Board and has previously served as the board’s treasurer. Outside of the OBA, Keri is active in the ABA/YLD, the Stillwater Junior Service League, Sunnybrook Christian Church and is a fellow of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation.

Christopher L. Camp
Chairperson-Elect

Chris is an associate attorney with Herrold Herrold & Co. specializing in complex civil litigation. Chris is a December 1999 graduate of TU College of Law, making the dean’s honor roll. He received his B.A. from TU in May 1995, where he was a member of the President’s Ambassador Council Honor Society and the recipient of an Army ROTC/TU Military Science Scholarship Grant and the General Dynamics Award for Outstanding Leadership. Chris has been admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Oklahoma and has also successfully argued cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.

For two consecutive two-year terms beginning in 2001, Chris has served on the Board of Directors of the OBA/YLD, during which he was elected secretary and treasurer. Chris has been active in several other OBA and TCBA committees, including the Access to Justice, Civil Procedure, Employment Law, Long-Range Planning and Community Service Committees. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of the Trial Lawyers of America and the Federal Bar Association, was an associate with the Council Oak Chapter of the American Inns of Court, and has volunteered his time to assist with the Oklahoma Bar Foundation High School Mock Trial Program.

Additionally, Chris is involved in several charitable and community activities. In 2002, following a successful year of volunteer fundraising, Chris coordinated raising more than $40,000 for the Tulsa Ronald McDonald House in his role as the silent auction committee chairman for the House’s “McDazzle” fundraiser. Chris has served as a mentor for several Street School students in the Tulsa Public Schools mentoring program, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Tulsa, where he has been a contributing writer to its monthly publication, the Gasser.

Born in Tulsa on Aug. 2, 1972, Chris married Julie Michelle Berryhill. They now have two sons, Bronson Michael Christopher (8 years) and Broderick Willard Norman (2 years), and one daughter, Abigail Diane (4 years). The Camps attend Will Rogers United Methodist Church.

Kimberly Warren
Treasurer and District No. 8

Kimberly is a tax manager at the firm of Cole & Reed P.C. She received her B.A. in political science and economics from TU and her M.B.A., J.D. and LL.M. in taxation from Capital University. Kimberly is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, American Bar Association, Oklahoma Society and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She has served as a director of the OBA/YLD Board of Directors for Judicial District 8 since 2002.

Richard L. Rose
Secretary

Rick is an associate at the law firm of Miller Dollarhide in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Southern Nazarene University (B.S. in Organizational Leadership, 2000, distinguished achievement award) and Oklahoma City University (J.D. magna cum laude, 2003).  Since graduating, Rick has served on the board of the Oklahoma County Bar Association YLD, currently serving as chair of the recruiting committee and will serve as chair-elect for the upcoming term. Rick has served as a board member for the OBA/YLD first as an ex-officio board member in 2002-03 and as a board member 2004-05; co-chairing the Gift of Life Project and serving as head-chef for the OBA/YLD Chili-Rama team.

Brett Cable
District No. 2

Brett practices law at the McAlester office of Steidley & Neal. His areas of practice are business law, litigation, civil rights defense, insurance defense, and wills and trusts. He received his bachelor of business administration in accounting from Southern Methodist University in 1993, and he graduated from TU College of Law in 2002. He is a trustee and Young Lawyers representative for the Oklahoma Bar Foundation. Brett is active in the OBA/YLD, Law Day Committee and Strategic Planning Committee.

Shanda McKenney
District No. 3

Shanda graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1998 with B.S. in secondary education/social studies.  She graduated summa cum laude from OCU School of Law in 2002.  She has practiced at the Oklahoma County Public Defender's Office and Crowe & Dunlevy P.C. and is currently an associate at Love, Beal & Nixon P.C., where her practice focuses on collection law and creditors’ rights.

Shanda has served on the Board of Governors of the Oklahoma County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division since 2003 and during 2004-2005 served as chair-elect of that organization.  She currently serves as chair.  Shanda has also served on the Board of Directors for the OBA/YLD since 2003.  She has been a member of the OBA Civil Procedure Committee (2003-05), the OBA Strategic Planning Committee (2005) and the OBA Bench & Bar Committee, where she also serves as chair of the Sub-Committee on Judicial Merit Selection.  She also serves as co-chair of the OBA/YLD Law Schools Committee and volunteers her services to pro bono organizations such as Legal Aid and Oklahoma Lawyers for Children.

Shanda was recently married to her husband Chad, and they are the proud “parents” of a dog and cat.

Joshua Schwartz
District No. 6

A native of Tulsa, Joshua practices in the areas of intellectual property and general litigation. He holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Pennsylvania, a juris doctor from Tulane University Law School and a master of laws in intellectual property from the George Washington University School of Law. Following law school, Joshua worked for Justice Daniel Boudreau at the Supreme Court of Oklahoma. Following that, he practiced in Tulsa with Maynard Ungerman, and he is currently in practice for himself. He is also the recent author of “Thinking Outside the Pandora's Box.” Joshua is licensed to practice in Oklahoma, Texas and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Daniel Zemke
District No. 6

Daniel is an associate at Herrold, Herrold & Co. P.C. in Tulsa. His practice is primarily in the areas of corporate litigation and probate. Daniel holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco in history and an M.A. in education from Stanford University. He is a 2004 graduate of TU College of Law where he was an editor of the Tulsa Journal of Comparative and International Law and an active member on Moot Court, winning trial advocacy awards in each year of law school. After graduation, he served as Legal Fellow for the Older Americans Law Project at the Boesche Legal Clinic at TU by providing estate planning to elderly Tulsa residents. He is admitted to practice in the Northern and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma as well as the Muscogee Creek Nation. He is currently a member of the American Bar Association and the Tulsa County Bar Association Estate Planning and Probate Section.

Hannah Cable
At-Large Rural

Hannah works for Policies Studies Inc. as staff attorney in the McAlester office of Child Support Enforcement. She has been in her current position since Dec. 1, 2003. Before that, she was in private practice in the McAlester area. Originally from Springfield, Mo., Hannah’s education credits include Missouri Valley College and the University of Tulsa College of Law. This is her second year to serve on the Board of Directors for the OBA/YLD.

Joe Carson
At-Large

Joe has worked at Johnson & Carson since December 2004. He received his bachelor of science in environmental science with a minor is agriculture economics from OSU in 1999. He graduated from OCU School of Law in May 2002. He is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association, Oklahoma County Bar Association and the Canadian County Bar Association.

Doris Gruntmeir
At-Large

Doris works for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma. She received her juris doctorate from the OU College of Law in 2000. She is active in numerous law-related organizations. Doris is involved in the Oklahoma County Bar Law Day Committee, Work/Life Balance Committee, Legal Aid Committee and the OCBA/YLD Board of Directors, having served as its chair from 2004-2005. Doris is also a member of the OBA Law Day Committee, YLD and contributed to the Centennial Task Force Committee. She also participates in the American Bar Association YLD, the Federal Bar Association and the Ruth Bader Ginsburg American Inn of Court, serving as its co-administrator since 2004.
