YLD Sends Representatives to Chicago

Four Young Lawyers Division members traveled to Chicago to represent the OBA/YLD at the American Bar Association Midyear Meeting from Feb. 9 – 13. Shanda McKenney of Oklahoma City, Javier Ramirez of Henryetta, Chris Camp of Tulsa and Keri Williams of Stillwater attended a very lively YLD Assembly where various resolutions were debated and voted on, including a resolution in support of an ABA dues increase, a resolution to ensure that the executive branch operates within the confines of FISA (or seeks amendments thereto), and various resolutions related to immigration law. Many of these issues were controversial and heavily debated on the assembly floor.

The trip was not without its fun. The delegates met and attended receptions with other delegates from throughout the country and took advantage of the Chicago nightlife.

“Serious debate was held on several resolutions directly affecting young lawyers, but the Windy City also lived up to its reputation by offering some of the finest restaurants, networking opportunities and entertainment available in the Midwest,” Ms. McKenney said. “Despite the winter weather, I thoroughly enjoyed attending the ABA Midyear Meeting on behalf of the OBA/YLD.”
