CHILDREN & THE LAW

Objective: To provide programs and services to improve the
quality of life for children through advancements in law, justice,
and public safety. This committee should also provide programs to
educate children about the inter-workings of the legal system.

Objective: To provide programs and services to benefit
communities in the State of Oklahoma.
CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION
Chair: LeAnne McGill
Objective: To work with the OBA’s Communication
Department to prepare and promote CLE seminars which are useful and
of interest to young lawyers, as well as all members of the OBA.
DISASTER LEGAL SERVICES
Chair: Doris Gruntmeir
Objective: To assist victims of disasters by providing
free legal advice in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management
Agency and/or other contributions that the committee deems appropriate.
This committee is typically only active in the wake of a disaster
which results in a need for its services.
GIFT OF LIFE
Chair: Briana Ross
Objective: To educate members of the bar about organ
and tissue donations and to encourage participation in organ sharing
networks. This committee also publishes and maintains the “Organ and
Tissue Donation Under Oklahoma Law” publication.
HOSPITALITY

Objective: To assist law students in recognizing
and dealing with issues that will affect them as they enter the legal
profession.
LONG RANGE PLANNING

OBA YLD Long Range Plan.
MEMBERSHIP

Objective: To investigate the needs of young lawyers
and determine how YLD can attempt to meet those needs.

Objective: To organize and conduct mock trial
competition among Oklahoma high school students on a statewide basis.
NEW ATTORNEY ORIENTATION

Objective: To host receptions honoring new admittees
to the Bar, to host a reception at the swearing-in ceremony, to introduce
new admittees to the OBA YLD, and to encourage young lawyers to actively
participate in Bar activities. This committee also guides and organizes
preparing the Bar Exam Survival Kits for the persons taken the bar
exam.

PUBLICATIONS/WEBSITE

Objective: To prepare information and articles
for the Oklahoma
Bar Journal, the OBA website, and OBA YLD social networking
sites to promote YLD activities and projects and keep members current
regarding YLD activities and accomplishments. This committee also
takes pictures at events for use in publicity of the YLD.
SENIORS
Chair: Bryan Will
Objective: To publish and distribute information
for senior citizens on a wide array of topics which affect their
rights. This committee publishes and maintains the “Senior
Citizens Handbook.”
SURVIVING THE SEASON
Chair: Kaleb Hennigh
Objective: To provide assistance for the indigent
and elderly during the harsh weather conditions.
TOLERANCE EDUCATION PROJECT
Chair: Tina Izadi
Objective: To promote tolerance among children
in Oklahoma for differences in race, religion, national origin, and
other differences which make up the melting pot of America.
VOLUNTEERS
Chair: Amber Peckio Garrett
Objective: Produce and distribute a
pamphlet for volunteers addressing their legal rights and responsibilities.
This committee publishes and maintains the “Oklahoma
Volunteer Handbook.”
WILLS FOR HEROES/C.A.P. (CITIZENSHIP/AMERICANISM/PATRIOTISM)
