In 2007, the Intellectual Property Law Section held its Annual Seminar and Mid-Year Meeting at Tanglewood Resort on the weekend of June 8 through June 10. The seminar offered eight hours of CLE credit and included a broad array of intellectual property law topics. The speakers included: Gale R. Peterson, William D. Raman, Joseph J. Ferretti, Jane Brandt, Professor Drew Kershen, Paul McGrady Jr., Barton E. Showalter and Kevin J. Meek.
A highlight of the weekend was the induction of G. Michael Burdick, of Dunlap Codding & Rogers, into the Intellectual Property Law Section Hall of Fame. Another highlight was the naming of Chad Roller of Ekips Technologies Inc. as the 2007 Intellectual Property Law Section Innovator of the Year for his work relating to determining marker gas concentration in exhaled breath using internal calibrating gas.
The OBA Intellectual Property Law Section consists of approximately 225 members, made up of attorneys who, at least as some part of their practice, deal with intellectual property law issues. Honored to serve on the executive committee this year were: Nicholas D. Rouse, president, Oklahoma City; Phillip L. Free Jr., vice president, Oklahoma City; Todd A. Nelson, secretary/treasurer, Tulsa; Mitchell K. McCarthy, director-at-large/past president, Oklahoma City; Michael J. LaBrie, district 1 director, Oklahoma City; and Sean V. O’Connell, district 2 director, Oklahoma City.
