Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association Clarence Darrow Recipients present The Mock Jury Trial of the State of Oklahoma v. Bryant Keith Coker

It was the early morning hours – the middle of the night in reality – on July 28, 2007, as Bryant Keith Coker approached the yellow crime scene tape at 1021 Southwest 60th Street in Oklahoma City. Bryant could see the chaos being created by law enforcement, ambulances, witnesses, on-lookers, but what he noticed the most was the body covered from head to toe with a white sheet and a man bleeding profusely from a wound to his abdomen. As he is walking to the yellow tape, Bryant is looking to speak with a policeman. Bryant ducks under the crime scene tape and walks to the first officer he sees. “I’m the man you’re looking for. I just stabbed two men,” he tells OCPD officer Matt Mauldin. With that, Officer Mauldin handcuffs Bryant and puts him in the back of his patrol car. Bryant is charged with Murder and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
