Welcome from the President

Over the past three years, I had the opportunity and privilege of attending the annual meetings of numerous local, state and national bar associations and professional organizations throughout the nation. The formula for achieving a successful annual meeting is quite apparent — meaningful CLE programs, thoughtful committee and section meetings, a dynamic keynote speaker, humorous entertainment and numerous receptions with plentiful fine food and drink. Throw in an exotic destination with many useful exhibitors, and you have all the ingredients of a wonderful annual meeting.
The 2006 OBA Annual Meeting returns to the eastern shores of the Arkansas River at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Tulsa for three days of interesting and enjoyable professional development. Whether you seek to renew law school acquaintances, obtain your CLE requirements with some of the finest programs of the year or carry out the business of the House of Delegates, a section or committee meeting, plan on having an enjoyable and rewarding time at this year’s OBA Annual Meeting.
Your OBA staff has been working diligently the past six months to provide you with a useful and entertaining experience at this year’s meeting. Some highlights include well-known Harvard Law Professor Arthur Miller, as our annual luncheon keynote speaker, coupled with his moderating a morning panel discussion of distinguished guests and members to address current challenges facing the judiciary. On Thursday evening, the OBA will help celebrate the Oklahoma Bar Foundation’s 60th anniversary with a joint dessert cabaret featuring the very entertaining and irreverent Bob Noone, an attorney from West Virginia. Bob and his musical group will share their humorous view of lawyers and their unique brand of entertainment designed to leave you rolling in the aisles. The Young Lawyers Division will present its highly popular Casino Night to coincide with the side-splitting entertainment that same evening. These events are in addition to the numerous receptions, hospitality suites and many night spots throughout Tulsa.
Finally, the House of Delegates will be addressing some important issues
facing the legal profession. In addition to the election of the future
OBA leadership, many important resolutions will be considered, including
the all-important revisions to the Rules of Professional Conduct, which
have been carefully crafted after four years of study by several of our
members.
I look forward to sharing our Annual Meeting with you, so mark your
calendars and start making your plans to be in Tulsa on Nov. 15-17,
2006.
Sincerely,
Bill Grimm
OBA President
