Stephen D. Beam, Weatherford

Stephen D. Beam is a sole practitioner in Weatherford. He received a B.A. from OSU and a J.D. degree from OU College of Law. He is admitted to practice before the U. S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the Fifth Circuit of the U. S. Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of the State of Oklahoma and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member and past president of the Custer County Bar Association. He has been a member of the Finance Committee since 1997, chair of the Social Committee since 1985, and delegate to the OBA Convention in 1990, 1991, 1996, and 1999. Mr. Beam was 2003 OBA vice president, and he is 2006 OBA president-elect. He was a member of the OBA Board of Governors from 1995 to 1997, and again since 2004. He was a member of the Board of Editors of the Oklahoma Bar Journal from 1997 to 2003, and he was a member of the OBA Management Assistance Program from 1997 to 2002. He was chair of the OBA Solo and Small Firm Committee from 1999 to 2002 and a member of the Planning Committee from 2002 to 2006. He was co-chair in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003, and chair in 2000 of the OBA Convention Task Force. He was a member of the OBA Long-Range Planning Committee in 1999 and 2004. He was treasurer in 1999, secretary in 2000, chair-elect in 2001, and chair in 2002 of the OBA General Practice Section. He was a member of the OBA Disaster Response and Relief Committee from 1990 to 1995 and a member of the OBA Legal Ethics and Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee from 1991 to 1995. He is a member of the Access to Justice Advisory Committee for 2006 and chair of the Audit Committee for 2006. He is a member of the Communications Task Force for 2006, chair of the Strategic Finances Task Force for 2006, and a member of the National Mock Trial Task Force from 2004 to 2006. He is chair of the Budget Committee for 2006 and has been a member of the Mentoring Committee from 2004-2006. Mr. Beam is a sustaining Fellow of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation. Mr. Beam is a member of the ABA, and he has been a member of the Council of the General Practitioners and Solo Section from 2002 to 2004. He has been director of Division III, Practice Specialty, of the GP Solo Section from 2003 to 2006. He is a member of the Long-Range Planning Committee, GP Solo Section, since 2003. He is a member of the GP Solo Section Awards Committee for the years 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2006. Mr. Beam is also a member of the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association and the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He was the recipient of the OBA Golden Gavel Award in 1999 and in 2004, the 2000 ABA General Practice Award, Solo and Small Firm Section GP Link Bar Association Project of the Year Award and the 1999 OBA Solo and Small Firm Conference and YLD Mid-Year Meeting Award. He was chair of the Centennial Task Force from 2002 to 2004. He received the President’s Award for 2001 and 2003, and he was named Solo Lawyer of the Year in 2003.

Vice President
Jack S. Dawson, Oklahoma City

Jack S. Dawson has been trying lawsuits since 1972. He has appeared in all courts from small claims to the U.S. Supreme Court, trying all types of cases from murder to the most complex civil cases. He is a shareholder and director of Miller Dollarhide, focusing his practice on general civil litigation, arbitration, mediation and appellate practice. He is an active mediator, has served on numerous arbitration panels, and is a frequent lecturer on the subjects of trial practice and alternative dispute resolution. He served on the OBA Board of Governors from 1995 – 1997. Mr. Dawson worked his way through college and law school as a court reporter. He was ranked first in his class all four years of law school, graduating from OCU School of Law in 1972 and received the OBA Outstanding Law Student Award his senior year.

Cathy M. Christensen, Oklahoma City

Cathy M. Christensen received her undergraduate degree from OSU in 1982 and her law degree from OCU School of Law in 1986. She is a solo practitioner in Oklahoma City. Supreme Court Judicial District Five
Peggy L. Stockwell, Norman

Peggy Stockwell practices in Norman and focuses on family law. She is also a mediator, arbitrator and guardian ad litem in family law cases. She has served on many OBA committees including Lawyers Helping Lawyers, the Awards Committee and the Disaster Response and Relief Committee. After the 1999 and 2003 tornados, she and her partner arranged for the OBA to have a presence at the FEMA site so those affected could have their legal questions answered. She is also actively involved in pro bono work and takes cases for Legal Aid Services. She currently serves on the OBA Professional Responsibility Tribunal. Peggy is an active member of the Cleveland County Bar Association where she served on the Executive Committee for many years and as president in 2000. She is a director of the Cleveland County Bar Foundation and has served on the board of several charitable organizations including Norman Alcohol and Information Center and Health for Friends. She is currently serving on the Cleveland County Health Department Board of Health. She received the OBA Outstanding Service to the Community award in 1999, the Legal Aid Pro Bono award in 1999 and the OBA President’s Award for Outstanding Participation in OBA Programs and Projects. She received the Mona Salyer Lambird Spotlight Award in 2005.

Deborah A. Reheard, Eufaula

Deborah Reheard has been in private practice in Eufaula since 1991. Her main areas of practice are criminal, family, litigation and bar disciplinary defense. Appointed by OBA President Bill Grimm to serve a one-year term on the Board of Governors for 2006; second vice-president of Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association; member of newly organized Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee; served a six-year term as a member of the Oklahoma Judicial Nominating Commission representing the Second Congressional District (chair 2003-2004); Professionalism and Civility Task Force; Women in Law Committee (chair in 2002 and 2003); Mona Salyer Lambird Spotlight Award recipient (2002) and the Oklahoma Bar Foundation Board of Trustees (sustaining fellow). Former state and municipal prosecutor and municipal judge. Frequent presenter of continuing legal education topics on professionalism, civility, ethics and criminal law.
She and her husband, Dale Gill, own and operate Gill Quarter Horses in Checotah. They raise, train and show American Quarter Horses in reining and reined cowhorse events. Deborah is currently serving on the board of directors of the Oklahoma Reining Horse Association as the vice-president.
