Bar Exam Requirements

Applicants who have completed the J.D. degree but have not been admitted to the bar in any jurisdiction are classified as law students and must complete the nunc pro tunc registration if not previously registered with the Oklahoma Board of Bar Examiners. The Rules make no exception for students who attend out of state law schools. All applicants must have the JD degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.

All requirements for graduation must be completed prior to the date of the bar exam. The law school must provide certification that the JD degree has been completed and a final law school transcript showing the grades and degree must be received in the office of the Board of Bar Examiners prior to the exam. It is the applicant's responsibility to request the transcript.

A scaled score of 75 is the passing score for the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination. An applicant may sit for the bar exam prior to taking the MPRE; however, the MPRE is required before one may be admitted to practice. MPRE scores are accepted from any administration of the exam.

Multistate Bar Examination scores from prior exams cannot be transferred to Oklahoma. If an applicant is taking concurrent exams in Oklahoma and another jurisdiction, the MBE score may be transferred to Oklahoma. Please request the notification form from the Board of Bar Examiners if you will be taking concurrent exams.
